2021 Here we come!
8 months since our last blog!! It looks like we have fallen asleep here at Hadlow, but rest assured we have not, well apart from a few slightly slower months over winter perhaps.
We have been ticking over here contending with further renovation and decoration of our home, tweaks to the garden landscape and, perhaps most importantly, setting camera traps for that most elusive of neighbours – the otter! After so many false sightings ending with the disappointing conclusion of “ugh, ‘not an otter”, Ian’s decision to enlist some technical support resulted in a successful sighting on the first night the camera was laid. A massive highlight for us, possibly even pipping sightings of Kevin the Kingfisher for the top spot, if only for the comparative rarity.
In all honesty our working pace has slowed considerably after the push to complete the Lime Kiln renovations last summer. After months of hard work, the Garden Room was filled to bursting with plants, the Studio radiant with warmth from the underfloor heating, the glass balustrades lining walkways and stairs like the final icing on the cake. Prepped, primed, preened and ready to fling the doors open to fill the kilns to the rafters with guests, and then…. well, 2020 happened.
After all but grinding to a halt in what would have been our first year of business, we are delighted to be guided by Mr Johnson’s recently announced road map that we may officially open this year.
Ian and I are very pleased to say that the Lime Kiln doors will (actually) be open from
12th April 2021!!! (hurrah!).
A positive kickback to the events of last year is the subsequent necessity, and desire, for people to holiday on home turf this year. Fortunately for us this means that all six weeks of the summer holidays have already been booked!
We do however, have availability in the intervening months and will be lifting our 7-night minimum policy to 4 weekday nights (Mon-Thurs) or 3 weekend nights (Fri-Sun) to make a break away more accessible.
If your idea of a perfect getaway is to have long stretches of sandy surf beaches around the corner, moorlands and trails to walk or cycle and truly unique accommodation in our Lime Kilns set metres away from the wildlife rich River Torridge, then do get in touch.
We will be very pleased to welcome you.
